pay off an official

The worst refereeing in the 2006 World Cup has come courtesy of Luis Medina Cantalejo, some Spanish asshole who has royally fucked up every game he’s gotten his filthy paws into.

Basically, he was promoted to officiate the matches at the finals after other referees failed to meet some already very low standards.

So far he’s overseen Germany vs Poland, Netherlands vs Argentina, Italy vs Australia, and today’s Brazil vs France game. From his controversial calls, plethora of cards, and just apallingly bad refereeing, it’s obvious he has been bought. The games he referees are more stop than go what with all the penalty shots and tending to the players theatrics. Change the name to American football or baseball. Yawn.

He’s not the first one in the history of World Cups to bend over for the money god. How else could France have won it first Cup in 1998 incidentally hosted by France? Possibly that would make Germany win this World Cup too. Ack. The whole thing makes me hurl.

Which gets me thinking…how about paying referees to be neutral. Really. I just want to see a really good game. No drama, no pointless calls, just a good exciting game. Thank you.

i think if you want to see a “good, exciting” game, you might to watch another sport, like women’s college bowling.
